Frequently Asked Questions

Why mains water coolers?

Bottled water coolers have fast become the norm in many UK businesses over the last 15 years, but now you can have a plumbed-in water cooler which provides unlimited, quality drinking water at a fixed low cost all the year round. What's more, you never run out of water, you don't have expensive invoices, there's no heavy lifting or bottle storage, and it is better for the environment too!

What is required for a plumbed-in water cooler?

All you need is a mains water supply and a 13 amp socket. We can install plumbed in coolers up to 15 meters away from the water supply. If you are unsure, just call our customer service helpline to arrange a free, no obligation site survey. Call 0870 225 2656.

How involved is the installation?

Plumbed-in water coolers are generally quick and easy to install. Installationusually takes 20 to 30 minutes.

To connect to the water supply we use a 'T' connection compression fittering, or saddle valve, we then fit a WAter Block anit-leak device and a pressure reduction valve for any pressure spikes in your mains water supply.

From here we use 1/4 inch polypropylene food grade tubing to the water cooler. Any tubing that is visible is enclosed in white 16mm hard plastic trunking for neatness and protection.

All fittings are WRAS (WAter REgulation Adivisory Scheme) approved.

What is WRAS?

WRAS - Water Regulation Adivisory Scheme - is an organisation set up to promote knowledge of the Water Regulations required throughout the UK.

If you have a WRAS approved water cooler, this means that it is up to the standard required by your local water utility compnay, the same applies to any fittings used on the mains water pipework.

Some companies use cheap imported water coolers that have not been WRAS tested. A WRAS approved cooler gives you the "peace of mind" that you are using a suitable product, as required by your local water company's bylaws.

Which water cooler should I choose?

We offer a fantastic selection of water coolers for businesses and organisations, large and small.

To start with you need to know how many people will be using the cooler/s. The capacities vary with different manufacturers and models, so it's worth looking at the cooler outputs.

Do you want something extra?

We can offer you a water cooler with an additional filtrtion option, UV (Ultraviolet) ensures additional puirty of drinking water

We can also offer sparkling water coolers, as well as hot and cold water dispensers that save your staff time because you don't have to wait for the kettle to boil.

If you have a large number of people using hot water for tea or coffer, why not have a plumbed in water boiler, dispensing up to 60 cups of piping hot water at one time.

What does the filtration process do?

We use some of the best WRAS approved filters available - a CUNO 1 micron valved silver carbon block filter system that reduces cysts, chlorine and other organic chemicals, general bad taste and ordour - it is also good for 3000 litres.

A silverised filter stops any bacteria from forming within the filter, this can occur in some filters after the cholorine has been removed. All filters are changed every 26 weeks.

How often is the water cooler serviced?

We visit your premises every 26 weeks to santitise your water cooler, internally and externally and change the water filter.

All our service personnel are EPDWA (European Point-of-Use Drinking Water Association) trained in servicing and sanitising mains water coolers. We use the latest Trioscience Aries Ozon Generators to completely sanitise the internal water contract area of your dispenser.

The Aries Ozone sterilising system is an environmentally friendly way to eradicate bacteria, without using harmful sanitising chemicals.

Why are mains water coolers better for the environment?

Plumbed-in water coolers are a much better option for the environment compared to bottle coolers. They provide unlimited, great tasting chilled water at a fraction of the cost of bottled coolers, and only require two service visits annually. Bottled coolers require water deliveries usually every fortnight, which require a delivery vehicle to call at your premises to make a delivery of a product that you already have on site - water!

What happens to the old water coolers?

The WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directive is new European legislaton that requires that all electrical equipment is recycled as much as possible at the end of the equipment's productive life.

We are now required to have a licensed contractor collect and ispose of water coolers ensuring about 80% of the unit is recycled. This is to ensure that the practice of disposing of equipment in landfill sites is kept to a minimum.

Why should I choose Hepscott?
